Privacy Policy
In short
- We collect only what is needed to find, notice, tow, store, release or scrap abandoned vehicles on BMC roads in the Eastern Suburbs, and to run the team doing that work.
- We never sell personal data. We share it only with MCGM, the police and others when the law or the work needs it.
- Personal data is protected with passwords (PINs), encryption, access rules by role, and a record of who opened what.
- You can ask to see or correct your data, or raise a complaint, using the contact at the end.
Who runs this portal
This portal is run for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (MCGM / BMC), Eastern Suburbs, by the contractor for the work, M/s. Raza Steel (Tender ID 2024_MCGM_1111757_1, LOA No. Dy.Ch.Eng/MC-075/Traffic dated 13.05.2025), with technology by Crescendo Innovative Solutions LLP. It is not MCGM's own main website.
What we collect
- About vehicles: photos, vehicle number, type, place (GPS), dates, notice, towing, yard, release and scrapping records.
- About owners who claim a vehicle: the documents they give at the yard (for example RC, ID, challan), and payment details of the challan.
- About owners who ask for a scrapping certificate: a photo of the RC card and the details on it (owner name and address, registration, chassis and engine numbers). The photo and the certificate are kept private in the vehicle file and are seen only by the people who issue certificates.
- About our staff: name, mobile, role, KYC (Aadhaar, PAN, bank, address, photo — only with their consent), attendance selfies with GPS, and a record of their actions.
- On the public "Was my vehicle towed?" page: the vehicle number you type, the time, and a random browser number used only to stop misuse. We do not ask for your name or phone there.
Why we use it
To carry out the work under the MMC Act, 1888 and BMC rules; to inform owners and the police; to calculate charges; to pay and manage staff; to keep records the law needs; and to keep the system safe.
Who can see it
Only people who need it for their job, by role: for example a police station sees only vehicles towed from its own area, and ward officers see only their wards. Money and personal fields are hidden from roles that do not need them. Every sign-in and important action is recorded.
How long we keep it
Vehicle records are kept as long as MCGM rules and audits need them. Identity data of staff who have left (Aadhaar, PAN, bank, addresses, ID documents) is removed three years after they leave; name, role and dates stay for payroll records. Public lookup records are kept only in short security logs.
How we protect it
Secure connections (HTTPS), PINs stored only in a form nobody can read back, encryption of Aadhaar / PAN / bank numbers, two-step sign-in for administrators, limits and security checks on the public page, weekly backups, and access by role only.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask to know what data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it erased where the law allows, and you may withdraw consent for the future. Some records must be kept by law even then.
